Elbit Medical Diagnostics launched a Sports Medicine specialty clinic -Sports Nutrition and Fitness Nutrition Clinic, at Road no-12 in Banjara Hills.
Kannan Perumal, COO, Elbit Medical Diagnostics said, “This is first of its kind clinic and it is designed to offer comprehensive Sports Medicine care in the city of Hyderabad. We are aiming to provide latest care in sports medicine to players from all disciplines of sports, and have employed senior Sports medicine experts, Fitness and Nutrition consultants with enormous experience and expertise.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bakhtiar said, “Sports nutrition is a highly specialized area and needs in depth assessment and prescription. The counseling varies for each individual sports person depending upon his body and special needs and therefore has to be tailor made. Therefore a made for all prescription can't fit everyone. As the country is inching towards making a mark at Olympics, there is a general dearth of sports medicine specialists and specialized Sports clinics like this.”
Explaining further, Dr. Bakhtiar noted that in Hyderabad city there are 30,000 kids involved in various sports, of which 90 per cent are vitamin 'D' and Vitamin B 12 deficient, which impacts their career in the long run, this is just one aspect but serves to highlight the woeful lack of sports medicine guidance amongst our budding sport persons. There is tendency to depend on supplements by sports persons. This is not right, they should not resort to consuming supplements, players should take utmost care about supplements, 80 per cent supplements have banned substances, unknowingly if they consume, and it can prove to be disastrous especially when participating in international tournaments. “We intend to take sports specialty forward in a big way and planning to open more such centers and be accessible to sportsmen across the city. Very soon we are also planning to open one more center at Secunderabad,” revealed the doctor.
