Govt of Kerala removes Ayurveda DC, charge given to state drugs controller

Government of Kerala has removed Dr N Vimala, from the post of state licensing authority and in-charge deputy drugs controller for Ayurveda. She has been in the office for the last ten years.

The charge of the administration of the Ayurveda drugs control wing has been given to the state drugs controller with immediate effect.

Sources from the department of Ayush said government is initiating steps for appointing a new drugs controller for Ayurveda soon. Currently, the Ayurveda drugs control office was functioning under the allopathic drugs control office, with a deputy drugs controller in charge.

On Friday, May 12, the health ministry has issued circular to the drugs controller of Kerala to take charge of the office of Ayurveda drugs control. Immediately he has taken the charge, sources said. Revi S Menon is the in-charge drugs controller for state drugs control administration.

Before joining as the deputy drugs controller for Ayurveda, Dr Vimala was working as the lecturer in the Government Ayurveda College at Thiruvananthapuram. With removing her from the post of Dy DC, she has to go back to academic field again.

Meanwhile, according to sources, government has given instruction to the drugs controller that no new license or renewal of licence or product endorsement should be given to any applicant till a new drugs controller takes charge. The office of the health ministry is aggressively attempting to appoint a permanent drugs controller for Ayurveda, sources informed.
