Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co has announced plans to construct a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Mima city, strategically located in the western part of Tokushima Prefecture. Construction of the new Tokushima Mima Factory is scheduled to begin in May 2017.
Otsuka Pharmaceutical currently manufactures pharmaceuticals at five factories in Japan. The stable supply of high quality pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical ingredients is necessary as the company continues to pursue global expansion of its pharmaceutical business.
Constructed to ensure a stable supply of quality pharmaceutical products in accordance to international GMP guidelines, the new Tokushima Mima Factory is scheduled to start manufacturing operations in 2020.
The Miwa City area is known for its abundant pure water and natural beauty. In addition to current locations in the eastern (Tokushima Factory, Tokushima Second Factory), southern (Tokushima Wajiki Factory) and northern (Tokushima Itano Factory) areas of Tokushima Prefecture, the construction of the Tokushima Miwa Factory expands Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s presence to western Tokushima, enabling the company to contribute to the renewed vitality of its home prefecture as a whole.
