The 10th annual general body meeting (AGM) and annual conference of the Trichy based Consortium of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Marketers Association (CIPMMA) will be held on the June 17 and 18 at Yercaudu in Salem district.
The AGM will elect new office-bearers for next three years tenure. CIPMMA is an organisation of pharmaceutical marketers and manufacturers with branches across Tamil Nadu.
This year, the office-bearers have invited M.S Devendran, managing director or Swiss Garnier Life Sciences, Chennai as the chief guest for both the AGM inaugurating and for the annual conference on the second day.
Though the pharma manufacturing and marketing sectors face several challenges and issues, CIPMMA has not regarded any of the issues to be selected for a comprehensive discussion at the two days programs. No regulatory official has been invited this year to attend the function. However, the organisers have planned for organisational discussions in various sessions and a cultural program on second day morning before starting annual conference.
A Kannan, convener of the apex committee of CIPMMA, has claimed that his organisation is the only pharma trade body in Tamil Nadu that conducts AGM every year. Countering his comment, A. Sethuraman, president of Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (TN PMA), said for the last 35 years PMA is regularly holding annual meetings and conferences. He said marketing people have no membership with PMA.
Industrial sources have informed Pharmabiz that CIPMMA may merge into TN IDMA and the decision in this regard will be taken in the annual general body meeting.
