Our Bureau, MumbaiThursday, May 11, 2017, 08:00 Hrs  [IST]

Providing an empowering platform for the buyers and sellers of the pharmaceutical supply chain, who aim to expand and identify new business prospects with North American companies and organizations, the world's largest pharmaceutical event series, CPhI, will debut at Pennsylvania Convention Centre, Philadelphia, USA from May 16 to18, 2017.

Over 6,000 potential buyers and partners are expected to attend the event, which will take place on a strategically-zoned show floor, facilitating meetings between the exhibitors and the buyers/partners looking for their products and services. And the organizers are expecting around 630 exhibitors.

The theme for CPhI North America 2017 is “Mix with the world of pharma products, people & solutions.” In short, the mission of CPhI North America is to connect the pharmaceutical industry with solution providers who can help them to address their challenges and take advantage of the opportunities within the industry.

North American market
The launch of CPhI North America has been strategically timed to take advantage of strong industry growth and innovation while addressing the ever-increasing challenges to the future prosperity of the industry. North American pharmaceutical revenue growth is strong, the United States saw an 8.5 per cent growth in 2015.

North America accounting for the largest pharmaceutical market around the globe. .The United States accounts for approximately 40 per cent of the world’s pharmaceutical sales and six of the top 11 companies in the sector are based in the country.

As leaders in pharmaceutical innovation, North American organizations develop a staggering 36per cent of the world’s new molecular entities (NME). With incredible advancements in the understanding of how to treat a wide range of disease states, the pharmaceutical industry now has greater opportunities than ever before.

North America dominated the global $134.2 billion API market in 2015 and is expected to hold its position, owing to the increasing R&D expenditure, rising favourable government initiatives for usage of generic drugs and technological advancements in the field of drug manufacturing. North America has also the largest market share in the pharmaceuticals excipients market.

In North America, approximately 4,100 small molecule drugs are in various stages of development. At the same time nearly 1,000 new large molecule drugs are in various stages of development representing a quarter of all North American drug development activity.

The North American market has a plethora of opportunities for CDMO / CMO companies. In addition, the biopharmaceutical market is growing at an 11 per cent CAGR representing strong future opportunity.

With the North American pharmaceutical market expected to have bright growth prospects upto 2020, there is no better time to introduce the newest edition that caters to the entire supply chain.
While CPhI Worldwide had been held in Europe for many years now, and CPhI holds numerous regional editions around the world, this is the first CPhI North America.

The pharmaceutical industry in North America faces many opportunities, as well as challenges. In terms of opportunities, the release of the Human Genome Project data in 2000 has given us many, many more targets for which to develop drug therapeutics and treat previously untreated diseases. However, R&D productivity in the industry is much lower than it needs to be resulting in the industry being challenged to develop drugs to treat these newly identified genomic targets. Additionally, the industry is facing a great deal of pricing pressures.

However, the industry is facing staggering price control pressures, research and development (R&D) inefficiencies, a need to efficiently manufacture new types of drugs, and mounting regulatory complexity. Industry changes, challenges, and opportunities call for a new event that can help the industry move forward in new ways. CPhI North America has been specifically tailored to meet the requirements of the North American market.

The Connect Conference
Utilizing the strength of the CPhI brand and an adjacency to InformEx, the leading fine and specialty chemical event, CPhI North America will launch the first-ever Connect Conference featuring two educational programs: CPhI Connect, focusing on pharmaceuticals and InformEx Connect, focusing on fine and specialty chemicals.
