BSE Institute – one of the market leaders in financial education, launched ‘Uttam’ – a mobile app –in collaboration with Uplift Mutuals, the pioneers of mutual health micro-insurance in India, to provide health micro-insurance management at fingertips. The app was launched at an event organized by the institute to discuss the health protection gap in India and the role of health mutual micro-insurance. The conference hosted discussion on how community owned health mutual are planning to scale in order to bridge the protection gap between government-supported and subsidized health insurance programs and commercially oriented insurance schemes. The programme witnessed participation from representatives of USAID, Resilience Design labs, Reinsurance Companies, Actuaries, Cooperatives and CSR.
The mobile app was launched by BSE MD & CEO Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan along with a few selected members. The app, designed by Uplift technology partner TIETO India, aims to help member families access information and services on the go as well as provide governance opportunities to every member in the local language.
The BSE Institute, which has a dedicated course on Fintech, will deploy a team of students from its Masters in Financial Technology course to collaborate with Uplift and TIETO on implementing the mobile app in the community.
