Opto Circuits posts net profit of Rs.8.05 crore in Q3

Opto Circuits (India) has posted a net profit of Rs.8.05 crore during the third quarter ended December 2017 as against a net loss of Rs.35.21 crore in the previous year. Its net sales, however, declined by 11.3 per cent to Rs.58.58 crore from Rs.66.05 crore. In the last period, the company has shown Rs.45.18 crore as exceptional loss incurred by sale of land and building belonging to its subsidiary. Its equity capital increased to Rs.287.50 crore from Rs.242.32 crore. EPS worked out to Rs.0.29 as against negative Rs.1.45.

For the nine months period ended December 2017, Opto Circuits' net sales declined marginally to Rs.161.94 crore from Rs.164.19 crore and it registered a net profit of Rs.18.74 crore as against net loss of Rs.295.92 crore.

As at the end of year March 2017, Opto Circuit incurred hefty net loss of Rs.508 crore as compared to net loss of Rs.36.86 crore in the previous year due to exceptional items of Rs.499 crore.. Its net sales declined to Rs.216 crore from Rs.347 crore due to partly the hostile takeover of its subsidiaries viz., Cardiac Science Corporation and Criticare Systems Inc. Its total borrowings reached at Rs.965 crore. Currently, Opto Circuit scrip is moving around Rs.10 with market capitalisation of Rs.259 crore.
