The Medical Post Graduate (PG) students in Telangana has a good news, as the state government of Telangana has scrapped the rule of compulsory one year service by the PG doctors in government hospitals in rural areas from this academic year.
While revealing this, the Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao clarified that as the state government is appointing adequate number of doctors and other hospital staff, there was no need to enlist the compulsory services of the PG students.
To this effect, the government is planning to introduce a Bill in the ensuing session of state Assembly to facilitate the amendment of the Medical Education Act in the state.
In fact, the demand for scrapping of the compulsory one year rural service for the Medical PG doctors was raised since long by the medical graduates and they had also held protests and strikes during the previous years. Keeping their demand in view, the chief minister has now scrapped this rule.
With regard to this, Chief Minister has instructed the officials concerned to ensure that students who get their PG degrees this year will be registered without serving the one-year tenure in a government hospital.
Following the Chief Minister’s decision to do away with the rule of one year compulsory rural service for the medical PG students, the Telangana Junior Doctor’s Association welcomed the government’s decision and thanked the Chief Minister for obliging their long pending demand.
