More than 670 exhibiting companies representing 31 countries worldwide displayed their latest technologies at the three-day Asia Pharma Expo 2018 (APE 2018) & Asia Lab Expo 2018 held at Dhaka, Bangladesh, from February 8 to 10, 2018. According to experts, the expo will help take the pharma manufacturing standards of Bangladesh to newer heights.
More than 11,400 trade visitors attended the exhibition to explore the complete the spectrum of latest pharma manufacturing technologies & products on display, which include processing machineries, packaging machineries & materials, cleanroom & utility equipment & services, water treatment & management systems, analytical & biotech lab instruments, project consultants & turnkey contractors, API, pharma bulk actives, excipients, additives & many more.
The 10th version of the exposition was organized by Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceuticals Industries (Bangladesh Aushad Shilpa Samity) in collaboration with GPE Expo Pvt. Ltd.
The Chief Guest, Mohammed Nasim, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Bangladesh inaugurated the exhibition. Its State Minister - Zahid Maleque, Drug Administration Directorate General Director General – Mustafizur Rahman, Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Bangladesh – Dr. Adarsa Swaika, Bangladesh High Commissioner in Kenya - Abul Kalam, BAPI Sr. Vice President – Harun Ur Rashid, BAPI Secretary General - S. M. Shafiuzzaman, BAPI Adviser - Abdul Muktadir were also present as special guests, among others, at the inauguration ceremony.
The local pharma market of Bangladesh is valued at around Taka 40,000 crore. More than 300 pharmaceutical companies of Bangladesh with current exports worth US$ 72 million are anticipated to take country’s pharma formulation exports US$ 60 billion by 2021.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared pharmaceutical industry as a promising sector, as it is contributing much to the improvement of country’s economic growth. Bangladesh has emerged as one of the fastest growing pharma-economy in global markets, and the momentum of growth further accelerated by 17 years long extension till year 2033 by WTO / TRIPs to continue the patented pharma formulations. More than 47 units at API Manufacturing Park is coming up near Dhaka. The Bangladesh pharma industry now meets around 98 per cent of the local demand for medicines, which is a milestone in the history of pharmaceutical industry.
With APE 2018 – Asia Pharma Expo has completed 16 years successful presence in Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry, and offering an unparalleled business platform for the entire spectrum of the pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies & solution providers networking with the comprehensively all the fraternity of pharma manufacturing plant professionals along with the regulatory, research, academics, and local indenting partners. The focused industry segments were pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biotech, API, neutraceuticals, cosmetics, beverages and distilleries.
Technology seminars were the concurrent knowledge sharing event took place at APE 2018. Wakeel Alvi, Senior Consultant, Abbott Informatics - STARLIMS presented on: Data Management, Data Integrity, Compliance and Paperless Environment" challenges and solutions for Pharma Manufacturing in Emerging markets. Suyash Kulkarni made a presentation on - Innovation & Integration of High Speed Packaging Lines and Sachin Patil made a presentation on the topic: Wurster Coating in Pharma, both of the Speakers were from ACG Engineering.
Asia Pharma Expo business exhibitions have emerged as a major catalyst for the growth of the South Asian pharmaceutical industry, as more than 14 new companies from allied sectors showed presence in pharma segment; 18 international companies made their debut exhibiting with LIVE DEMO of latest manufacturing technology products / services; 15 local indenting partners enrolled for first-time exhibiting.
The Asia Pharma Expo 2019 is scheduled during January 30-31 & February 1, 2019 at Dhaka, Bangladesh.
