Infertility Dost, India’s first digital platform, aims at facilitating and empowering couples undergoing infertility with support and knowledge to manage their journey better and to endure pain with dignity. The digital platform held a coffee table talk programme on March 17 to break the shackles of societal taboo around infertility.

The talk was about Fertility Wellness. Every fourth women in India face minor gynaecological problems which if ignored can escalate into chronic problems of tomorrow. Overcoming shame and taboo, the forum participants talked about hormone issues like weight gain, PCOD, endometriosis, ovarian issues, career and fertility balance, infertility, IVF, miscarriages, period issues and whole gamut of taboo subjects.

Dr. Parul, Fertility Consultant, NVOA Clinic, says: Infertility is a silent disease, but has an impact on a couple’s mental  and social wellbeing. It has been consistently associated with feeling of unhappiness and emptiness in a woman’s life.”

According to Dr Roma from Gangaram Hospital, “Today’s hasty lifestyles coupled with lack of sleep, rest, consumption of a lot of food, especially sugars and processed foods, unending stress, and very little or no physical activity have thrown our hormones into a tizzy. This frenzy of hormonal over activity, coupled with little or no physical work and poor resting can completely throw our bodies off balance.”

Gitanjali Banerjee, winning over infertility after 10 years, is the owner of Infertilty Dost. With this initiative, she aims to educate people about the issue and try putting an end to the social stigma concocted to women who cannot conceive. She believes that as people, we should stop making it a big issue as one can overcome the situation in many ways in today’s high-technology age.

The initiative helps women from the 20-40 age group to meet on a one platform.
