The Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) organised its 7th convocation at its Bengaluru campus. Twenty nine students from AICTE approved Post-Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Management (Batch 2016-18) were graduated in the ceremony.
Out of thirty-four students enrolled for the courses, 24 were successfully placed even before the completion of the course in reputed hospitals, state government, health IT companies by the Institution with a highest package of Rs. 9.2 lakh. Sapphire IMS, Ramkrishna Hospitals, NHM Gujarat, BVG India Pvt Ltd. (MEMS), Telerad -- RxDx, Continental Hospital, Gleneagles Health City, among others were the top recruiters. Four of the students of this batch are from Army as in-service candidates.
Chief Guest of function was Dr. K Ravi Kumar, senior regional director, Central Government Health Services, GoI and Dr S. Pruthvish, Rtd. Professor and HOD, M S Ramaiah Medical College & State Consultant, UNICEF, was the Guest of Honour at the convocation. They awarded the degrees to the students along with Dr. Suresh Krishna Rao, a senior public health specialist, Dr. S.D. Gupta, Trustee Secretary and Dr Usha Manjunath, Director-IIHMR Bangalore. Dr Monica Misra and Dr Busireddy Gari Shobitha were awarded the gold medal for their academic excellence in Health IT and Hospital Management specialisation respectively.
“Indian healthcare sector has experienced tremendous growth, however, there are a lot of challenges that must be addressed. The healthcare sector is currently going through a paradigm shift further creating a galore of opportunities for healthcare managers. The healthcare industry is in need of trained management professionals and I believe IIHMR’s students have been given the best training and are well-equipped to assist the growing needs of the healthcare industry,” said Dr. Kumar.
According to Dr Usha Manjunath, director of IIHMR Bangalore, the pedagogy encourages students to think big which enables the growth of the Institute.
