Healthcare experts have identified trauma as the major cause of deaths and disability, they have stressed on better training and skill development for Trauma care givers. The one day workshop was held at Care Hospitals in Banjara hills, Hyderabad.
The one day trauma workshop and awareness programme was conducted by the department of critical care medicine at Care Hospitals in collaboration with Care Institute of Health Sciences (CIHS) along with some of the renounced medical associations in the state.
According to Dr. Madhusudhan Jaju, Head of the Department of Critical Care, Care Hospitals Nampally, at present trauma is a major cause of death and disability in the world and this has been increasingly being witnessed even in India at a faster pace.
Experts defined trauma as a psychological, emotional response to an event or an experience that is deeply distressing or disturbing. It is also referred to as something upsetting, such as being involved in an accident, having an illness or injury, losing a loved one, or going through a divorce. However, it can also encompass the far extreme and include experiences that are severely damaging, such as rape or torture.
While highlighting that the care givers must be updated with advanced medical knowledge and must be constantly upgrade their knowledge as to how to deal with emerging and new medical challenges Dr. Jaju said, “It’s a very important health issue that needs increased awareness and frequent updating of knowledge among the care givers. The objective of the workshop was to acquaint participants with the latest techniques of trauma management.”
The one day workshop mainly emphasized on team work besides hands on training with the use of the hi-fidelity advanced Sim Man 3G patient simulators being the hallmarks of the workshop. According to Care Hospital officials, the CIHS is a state-of-the-art simulation centre with more than fifty manikins that can simulate hundreds of conditions of patients.
The workshop was attended by Sparsh critical care team besides critical care specialists, orthopaedics, neuro surgeons, ER physicians and paramedical staff. Dr B Soma Raju, Chairman and MD, CARE Hospitals, along with Medical Director, Dr. Raghava Raju also took part in the one day trauma care workshop.
