Lead doctors from Indo-Japanese CTO Club (IJCTO) joined a team of expert doctors from Apollo Hospitals, at South Asia’s largest interventional workshop on Chronic Total Occlusions Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (CTO PCI) technique in Hyderabad.
The workshop was held under the leadership of Dr V.Surya Prakasa Rao, Dr P.L.N.Kapardhi and the cardiac team of Apollo Hospitals in Hyderguda. During the meet renowned CTO specialists from Japan and Europe joined the Apollo Hospital team, to demonstrate complex CTO techniques.
More than 1,000 delegates from Asia Pacific Countries participated in the meet. As part of the workshop lead doctors successfully treated eighteen complex cases using the CTO PCI technique.
Highlighting about the advanced CTO PCI treatment techniques, healthcare experts said that the hardened blocks in the heart’s arteries are conventionally treated by performing bypass surgery. However, the new and minimally invasive technique called chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention (CTO PCI) enables such blocks to be cleared by avoiding surgery and is devoid of all the complications associated with surgery. The patient recovery through CTO PCI advanced medical procedure is much faster.
Expert doctors from Japan who took part in the workshop include Dr Masahisa Yamane, Dr Kenya Nasu, Dr Yuji Hamazaki, Dr Yasuhi Asakura, Dr Koshi Matsuo, Dr Wataru Nagamatsu, and European experts Prof. Alfredo R Galassi, Prof. Gerald Werner, Dr Tammam Khalid, Dr Arun Kalyan Sundaram, joined the team from Apollo Hospitals at the CTO PCI workshop. And those who joined the workshop from Apollo team include Dr Surya Prakasa Rao, Dr Kapardhi, Dr Narayana Rao, Dr Sunil Kumar, Dr Vishwanath, Dr Priyen Kantilal Shah, Dr Satyajit G Mehetre, and Dr Srivastva.
