Pharmac South 2018 will bring more than 20 outsourcing mangers of big domestic pharma companies from north India to the two-day pharma trade expo at Chennai Trade Centre, to be held on July 6 and 7.
This is in addition to the brand managers and marketing managers from the big players located in Maharashtra, Gujarat and other part of north India. The event is being organised with the objective to help and support the contract manufacturers and marketers in the south Indian states, especially in the home state of Tamil Nadu, said SV Veeramani, the chief patron of the mega pharmaceutical expo.
Contract manufacturers who are all having small manufacturing units will be provided opportunities to showcase their products to the outsourcing managers and marketing officials of big companies. The trade expo is organised to facilitate the local manufacturers, who are all manufacturing most of their products on contract basis, to exhibit their products and expertise to the buyers visiting the expo, said Veeramani who is also the immediate past national president of the Indian Drug Manufacturers Association.
“Generally Pharmac like product and machinery exhibitions are organised in order to attract international buyers. But here, in Pharmac South, we want to bring domestic buyers to a platform wherein the local manufacturers can present their products and expertise before them. Big companies who are looking for products from Indian companies only will be brought to the contract manufacturers of Tamil Nadu. Big players such as Sun Pharma, Lupin, Cipla, Dr. Reddys Labs, Aurobindo Pharma, Cadila, Piramal, etc will send their outsourcing managers to Pharmac South this time. The job of the outsourcing managers is to find out interesting products from the market and inform their marketing people who will enquire which company can supply these products to them. We will give the medium and small scale companies facilities for interacting with the outsourcing managers in the buyer-seller meet”, Veeramani said.
There are about 7000 medium and small pharma manufacturing companies in India. But all of them are not able to market their products to other states. They need the support of the marketers. This event will help both the manufacturers and marketers.
In addition to this, the trade expo is organising programmes like interesting seminars and panel discussions in the two days. For motivating the marketers, an international business motivation speaker from Mumbai is also invited to the event for a talk. The programme will help the marketers who are concentrating their business activities only in marketing. Usually they don’t have manufacturing facilities. The members of Chennai based CIPMMA are purely marketers, Veeramani added.
When asked about the impact of the previous editions of Pharmac South, he said the previous three editions created awareness and confidence among the medium and small scale manufacturers in the state. The platform also gave the contract manufacturers opportunities to introduce their products to the big companies in Tamil Nadu itself. Even the Fourrts India Limited in Chennai got to know about certain small companies during the trade expo only. Fourrts India is also a buyer and its outsourcing managers will visit all the product exhibitions, said Veeramani who is the managing director of Fourrts India.
