The Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Distributors'' Association (TNDPA) is contemplating to boycott dealings with Zydus Cadila group in response to Zydus Group''s decision to appoint 15-17 parallel stockists to counter the boycott of German Remedies by the TNPDA. The decision to boycott trade dealings with the Zydus Cadila Group will be taken at a general body meeting of the TNPDA scheduled for October 2, 2002, according to Prem Chand Ranka, Chairman- PIS Committee, TNPDA. The TNPDA had decided to boycott dealings with German Remedies irked by the Zydus Cadila group to roll back trade margins on the products of German Remedies to that of the products of Zydus Cadila. The roll back meant a loss of 1.5 per cent on the trade margin to the distributors and 2.5 per cent to the retailers, much against the agreement signed between the trade and the industry. The TNPDA, which is not affiliated to the AIOCD, accused the AIOCD of playing against the interests of the distributors. The AIOCD had in a communiqué essayed to its members that they abide by the roll back announced by the company. Prem Chand Ranka maintained that the company authorities are still to hold talks with the TNPDA on the German Remedies boycott issue though Shiv Khera, Director-Marketing, Zydus Cadila group had met the representatives of the TNPDA before the boycott call to thrash out a solution that went in vain. In turn, to counter the boycott, the Zydus Cadila group appointed parallel stockists to market the products of German Remedies. Prem Chand Ranka maintained that about 7-8 stockists have been appointed in Chennai while the remaining was in the rest of the state. "We are irked by this response and we will take a final decision on boycotting the entire group at general body meeting of the Association," he maintained.
