Pune University awards Ph.D degree to K R Khandelwal

The University of Pune has awarded the Ph. D degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences to K. R. Khandelwal for his research work entitled "Pharmacognostical Studies of Natural Produts with reference to Ayurvedic formulations processing Technique." He carried out his research work under the guidance of Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, Principal - Poona College of Pharmacy, Prof-Vice Chancellor, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune, Maharashtra. A research paper of his Ph. D. work presented at the international Congress on frontiers in Pharmacology and Therapeutics - New Delhi - 1999 was awarded "Young Servier" award. He has published and presented over 22 research papers and review articles in national and international journals and conference. He has guided 13 M. Pharm. Students at Bharati Vidyapeeth's Poona College of Pharmacy where he is a Teaching faculty since 1983. He is author of well known book - Practical Pharamcognosy - Experiments and Techniques (Nirali Prakashan, Pune). He is also co-author of two other books. His research area includes Pharmacognostical studies of natural products and optimization of Ayurvedic processes used in the formulation development. Dr. Khandelwal is a Life Member of I.P.A., A.P.T.I. and Indian society of Pharmacognosy.
