Kerala Ayurveda Pharmacy Ltd (KAPL), a leading Ayurvedic manufacturer which was planning to make a foray into the international market in a big way for quite some time, has been chosen as the exclusive partner to the UAE government to supply Ayurvedic medicines. It is for the first time that a Middle East country has opened its door to bringing in Ayurveda as an alternative authorized form of medicines, and for the first a tie up with an Indian company as exclusive partner. The exercise would begin from Dubai, and shortly all the islands in the sheikdom will be covered thereafter.
The exclusive arrangement, a big one for KAPL, will now help the company stamp its authority in the sheikdom and at the same enable the UAE government to offer Ayurvedic medicines free of cost to the residents of the country through all government owned hospitals and dispensaries. Arun Kumar, Joint Managing Director, KAPL, while refraining from mentioning the total cost of the project, told Pharmabiz.com, that while the UAE government will brand the medicines in its name of choice the products will however sport KAPL as the manufacturer of the medicines.
The UAE government, it is learnt, will also help set up Ayurvedic clinics similar to the Ayurclinics that are under operation in India under the aegis of KAPL. Arun Kumar maintained that the supply of medicines and maintenance of Ayurvedic clinics would be managed by a newly promoted family concern, All Seasons Herbs.
The exclusive arrangement will help KAPL market most of its 365 products in its kitty, thus helping for a big brand building exercise. All Seasons Herbs will also help in sourcing products from other manufacturers incase requirements are not met with by KAPL. All Seasons Herbs currently supplies to Himalaya Drug Company.
KAPL currently manages Ayurvedic clinics christened Ayurclinics in the country, 10 of them are functioning mostly in the south . Its biggest project has been the Ayurgram, the health resort set up in Bangalore which has hit international headlines.
