Los AngelesFriday, October 25, 2002, 08:00 Hrs  [IST]

InterCare.com-DX Inc, developer of the HIPAA-compliant InterCare Clinical Explorer (ICE), an enterprise-level electronic medical record system (EMR), and QRS Diagnostic LLC, a privately held designer and developer of patented, software-based medical devices in computer (PC) cards, announced today that they have entered into a teaming and joint marketing agreement. InterCare.com-DX has implemented an interface that enables QRS PC Cards to work with ICE, and the companies now jointly market their complementary, compatible products for use by physicians and other health care providers in diagnostic testing, patient care, and documentation. ICE's extensive, scalable system flexibility allows its adaptation to clinical workflow, operating independently in centralized and decentralized facilities. The program features intuitive clinical order entry, "tapering" orders, a clinical knowledge base, digital video enhanced patient education module, real-time electro-physiological data capture and display, voice command and recognition, digital dictation module and numerous other capabilities used in the diagnostic and treatment processes, including unlimited free-text notes. ICE, as a fully featured EMR, supports real-time capture and display of electro-physiological data. The QRS interface will enable patient monitoring and data collection in areas such as spirometry, oximetry and electrocardiography (EKG) for inpatient, outpatient and telemedicine applications using the QRS PC Card medical devices. Blood pressure and vital signs data collection devices are forthcoming from QRS. "We are enthusiastic about the potential represented in this agreement, which is designed to support classic applications and create mutually advantageous business opportunities that will demonstrate the exceptional flexibility of the ICE system among predisposed end users," said Russ Lyon, President/CTO of InterCare.com-DX. "The integration of the QRS software-based medical devices into EMRs is a logical extension and enhancement to our technology. It is a 'win-win' for both companies and in addition, for all health care providers who seek greater functionality, utility and accuracy in patient care," said Spencer Lien, chief executive officer of QRS Diagnostic.
