Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre will open its new branch, Escorts Heart and Super Speciality Institute Limited, at Amritsar on December 1, 2002. The new hospital would provide the same facilities as that of EHIRC and would have the capability to undertake renal and liver transplantation etc. The hospital is to be the fourth speciality centers. The Group already has speciality centres at New Delhi, Kanpur, Baroda and Faridabad.
According to Anil K Maini, head marketing & business development, EHIRC, the hospital group is on an expansion spree with facilities both its own and jointly operated ones coming up in various parts of the country. While Escorts plans to set up 25 heart institutes in the country within a short span, it has already set up /initiated setting up centers in places like Jhodpur, Raipur, Moradabad. The New Delhi institute is undergoing a facelift with a 100-bed block added to it as part of expansion programme. The group owns two hospitals in Noida also.
The list of the associated hospitals includes Durdans Heart Surgical Centre (Pvt.) Ltd. Sri Lanka, Norvic-Escorts Health Care and Research Centre Nepal Maharaja Agrasen Heart Institute and Research Centre New Delhi, ISIC-Escorts Heart Command and Research Centre New Delhi, Kalra Hospital - Shir Ram Heart Institute and Research Centre New Delhi, Kukreja Hospital and Heart Centre, New Delhi, Escorts Heart Command Centre at Kamayani Hospital Agra etc.
Of the hospitals that are coming up, the Raipur center is a joint venture with the Chhattisgarh government. As per the agreement, the EHIRC is to set up a state-of-the-art Heart Command Centre in the state capital Raipur. The centre will be the first of its kind in the state and EHIRC will set up the Heart Command Centre on a turnkey basis and recruit all the required medical, paramedical, technical and non-medical staff.
EHIRC is located in New Delhi, India and the facilities are housed in two adjoining spacious buildings connected through an exclusive subway. The hospital has more than 220 beds, six operation theaters, three Cath Labs, two heart stations besides a host of other facilities. The hospital has a total of 77 critical care beds to provide intensive care to patients after surgery or angioplasty, emergency admissions or other patients needing highly specialised management including tele-cardiology (ECG transmission through telephone).
