SysArris to set up Centre of Excellence for Bioinformatics at PES College of Pharmacy

SysArris Software Pvt Ltd has signed up a Memorandum of Understanding with the PES College of Pharmacy, Bangalore to set up a Centre of Excellence for Bioinformatics at PES College of Pharmacy campus. The Centre of Excellence for Bioinformatics would be first of its kind and the combination of industry coming together with the academic institution would provide an excellent opportunity for PES Pharmacy students to bridge traditional pharmacy with information technology. The Centre of Excellence will focus on activities in the area of Bioinformatics with emphasis on chemo-informatics and delve into IPRs (Intellectual Property Rights). It would provide a platform for students to get exposure to the industry needs and provide better job opportunities. Bioinformatics is in the forefront of the information technology and is crucial to accelerate the drug research and it is the next wave world wide for career opportunities; which is recognised by the Central and State Governments, informed A. Ajaysimha, director, SysArris Software. "The Centre of Excellence will help PES M. Pharm students to get exposure to the industry needs and this would make learning more effective in the institution," said Prof. M.R. Doreswamy, founder secretary, PES Institutions that started in 1972 to offer diploma, graduate and post graduate courses in science, commerce, pharmacy, management, engineering, computer applications and medicine. The first academic M. Pharm course is expected to commence in March 2003. The PES College of Pharmacy was started in 1982. With the industry-academy interaction, the M. Pharm (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) students can provide the human resources for drug design development in industries.
