QRS Diagnostic and Advanced Medical Electronics Corporation (AME) have signed a technology development partnership agreement. The companies will develop technology for PC Card, Springboard module, and USB-based medical devices. QRS and AME will also collaborate on wireless local area network and Internet-connected instruments. "The technology resulting from the partnership, combined with our own portfolio of patents, strengthens QRS' leadership in producing software-based medical devices that are portable, upgradeable and affordable," says Patrick Lichter, chief technology officer, QRS. "This partnership between QRS and AME provides a clear path for timely and efficient introduction of new medical device technology into broad markets," says Gary Havey, president, AME. The partnership agreement includes the development of technology from several AME research projects for the design of PC Card, Springboard module, and USB-based medical devices as well as local area network and Internet-connected instruments. QRS and AME have developed, and continue to develop, the technology under projects funded by various federal agencies, including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Army.
