Morepen Laboratories Limited will come out with information booklets on different major health problems and diseases to be distributed free of cost across the country soon. The company through its Help Healing Happiness (3H) programme intends to reach out to patients in 6700 clinics across the country through these information leaflets. The information is to be available in all major vernacular languages and will touch upon diseases related to heart, diabetics, ulcer, stroke, hypertension and also commonly occurring diseases like diarrhea, TB and typhoid.
Speaking to Pharmabiz.com, Atul Gandotra, vice president, marketing and sales, Morepen, said that the company has set apart two percent of its annual profits for such programmes. "We are joining hands with several state governments to introduce mobile clinics in those states. Haryana government has given 7 vehicles, which will soon be converted into full-fledged mobile medical units. We will have our own doctors posted in these centers", he said.
The company has also tied up with several hospitals for initiating patient awareness programmes. Health camps for detection, treatment and prevention of heart diseases in Lucknow, Gidharbha, Sirsa, Bijnor etc are being organized in association with Escorts Heart Research Centres. During these tests, consultations, pathological tests, ECG, Echocardiography and medicines are provided free to the patients.
Gandotra said its mobile health care unit functioning in Delhi is catering to 12 rural and semi-urban areas and has attended more than 8,000 patients within a month now.
The company is also in the process of setting up information counters in 10 - 15 major hospitals in the country. This includes the ones in Jammu, Srinagar, Shimla, Delhi etc.
The company has also announced that a certain percentage of the sales proceedings of each drug will go into 3H activities.
