Eon receives final approval for Omeprazole Delayed-Release Capsules

New YorkMonday, January 6, 2003, 08:00 Hrs  [IST]

Eon Labs Inc has received final approval for Omeprazole 10mg and 20mg Delayed-Release Capsules, the generic alternative for Prilosec. Since the 180-day marketing exclusivity right was forfeited by another generic supplier, FDA changed the status of Eon Labs' Omeprazole Delayed-Release Capsules from tentatively approved to approved. Eon is currently involved in patent challenge litigation related to generic Omeprazole and cannot predict the ultimate outcome of the ongoing legal action. Eon Labs will launch Omeprazole Capsules only after a favorable decision in the patent litigation, which it is currently involved in with AstraZeneca. Eon Labs is a generic pharmaceutical company specializing in developing, licensing, manufacturing, selling and distributing a broad range of prescription pharmaceutical products.
