Chyawanprash good for smokers, rectifies respiratory diseases: Dabur report

The Ayurvedic concoction of herbs, Chyawanprash, has been proved to be helpful to smokers besides rectifying disorders, according to a report from the Dabur Research Foundation (DRF). The report claims that regular usage of Chyawanprash helps rectify respiratory disorders in smokers by a significant 24 per cent by improving their lung functions. As a result, better immunity against diseases related to respiratory disorders like asthma and bronchitis is achieved, the study further states. According to Dr. C. K. Katiyar, the peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) factor recorded an improvement by 24 per cent in smokers who used Chyawanprash. "Researches have confirmed the efficacy of Chyawanprash in healthy lung functions which is attributed to its formulation," Dr. Katiyar maintained. Further, users of Dabur Chyawanprash reported improved forced expiratory volume, a test that measure the capacity of lungs to expel air, and PEFR, one of the many tests that calibrate the function of normalcy in breathing that gets affected by respiratory disorders, the study further confirms.
