Analytica Anacon jointly organized by Messe Muenchen International, Germany's leading trade fair/expo organizer, Indian Association of Analytical Instrument of India (IAIA) and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce first time in India, which was held in January at Mumbai, received a grandiose response from the participants and visitors. India's exclusive exhibition on analytical and scientific instruments, the event's main objective was to highlight the needs and trends governing the scientific instrument industry in India, as it is the 5th largest market in Asia for the same. Today research is a predominantly dominating factor engaged in quality control processes in core industries of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food processing, chemicals, and petrochemicals. Hence the need for high-quality equipment, lab instruments etc is very much there to meet international standards in the quality of processes undertaken. In order to create awareness, share knowledge, the trade show was interspersed with concurrent conferences presented by eminent speakers and doyens of the industry. India is on the verge of being the one of the leading preferred locations for all R&D activities, which needs to be further translated into communicating availability of the desired testing and analysis equipment too. Some of the speakers were Dr. Vyas from Dr. Reddy's Lab who spoke on X-Ray Diffraction in Pharmaceuticals Industry, J. K. Lalla. Former Principal KMK College of Pharmacy shared his views on Quality Management System for Pharmaceutical Industry, Dr. Govil from TIFR, spoke on New Frontiers of NMR in Analytical and Pharmaceutical Industry. The discussion revolved around the critical need for awareness of best practices/processes, hence projected the need for very sophisticated instruments. There also well-known people such as S. K. Malhotra from Department of Atomic Energy presentated a paper on Nuclear Power, Dipankar Chakraborti, from School of Environmental Studies shared his expertise on effectiveness and reliability of Arsenic Field Testing Kits and Pradyut Mitra from KPMG spoke on Environmental Management Audit. The visitors comprised mainly of scientists, research heads from corporate lab technicians, pharmacists, students and other industry professionals who were all of the opinion that the entire conference session and the exhibition was very insightful and very interesting. “The response to this years event has been very encouraging, I am sure that our association with Messe Muenchen will go a long way in establishing Analytical Anacon as the premier industry trade show,” said S.
