Kotbagi hospital gets ISO certificate

Kotbagi Hospital of Chinmaye Medical Foundation became the first hospital in Pune to demonstrate compliance of LRQA UK ISO9001: 2000 Standards. The Hospital has been given the global certification by the United Kingdom based LLOYDS Registered Quality Assurance Company (LRQA). Speaking on the occasion Leela Poonawala, said, "Healthcare at last is one of the fastest growing sectors of the Indian economy. Customers are demanding more and better health services." Hospital is approaching hospitality industry standards, she added. Well known physician, Dr. S.L.Kotbagi, promotes Kotbagi Hospital with third generation of doctors. Dr. Mahesh Kotbagi, Chairman and Managing Director said Dr. S. L. Kotbagi realized that to stem the competition, they had to adopt modern management practices and therefore the hospital has specialized in Hospital Administration. He added that Quality Management Systems is but only one part of modern business management practice. Dr. Kotbagi said, "The ISO9001:2000 Standards are now sufficiently generic in nature to be applied in any industry. The standards are based on eight main principles. All of these are to do with top management involvement, leadership, output based and systematic management.'' However, certificate would be helpful only if the hospital gains through more business, more satisfied patients, more satisfied employees and more satisfied society, he pointed out.
