Six more states would have super speciality hospitals modeled on the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is planning the hospitals, according to sources in the Ministry. The six states are Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Orissa, Chattisgarh and Uttranchal. The move is touted to make available specialized health care, besides reducing the influx into Delhi on this count. It has been revealed that most people coming to AIIMS come from these states. The 500-bedded hospitals will have all the speciality services that AIIMS has. Besides the patient care, the hospitals are likely to have both medical and nursing colleges besides research centres.
