Genome Valley stall gets award at Bio-2003 Expo

The Genome Valley stall put up by the Government of Andhra Pradesh has won the Best Stall Award at the International Biotechnology exhibition, Bio-2003, held in Bangalore from April 15-17. This was announced by B P Acharya, Secretary, Industries and Commerce, through a press release. The stall showcased the initiatives taken to develop the biotechnology sector in the state. It provided a virtual conducted tour of the Genome Valley by highlighting the evolution of the biotech policy and the world-class infrastructure created at the ICICI Park and the Biotech Park. It also showcased the research base provided by the presence of centres of excellence such as the CCBM, CDFD, IICT, and NIN for developing biotech / life sciences sectors in the state. Among 120 stalls put up at the exhibition by different international trade agencies like Invest UK, Connect Singapore, and trade agencies from Belgium, France and Germany, biotech companies from India and abroad and different state governments, the Genome Valley stall was adjudged the best and the award was given away at a special function during Bio-2003. The stalls put up by the Singapore-based service provider company, Sartorious, and the German company Ependorf won the second and third prizes respectively. Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna visited the stall and appreciated the efforts of the AP government in making Genome Valley the biotech hub of India and the leadership provided by the state in ushering in biotechnology revolution in the country.
