Efforts on to isolate SARS virus at ICAR lab

Efforts were on to isolate the SARS virus at the sophisticated lab of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) at Bhopal, Dr. Mangala Rai, Director, ICAR told Pharmabiz.com. She said that the lab has been given the permission by the Director General of the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) to isolate the virus. The Bhopal lab of the ICAR is supposed to be one of the best in the country. In the meanwhile, at the CSIR laboratory in Delhi, a gene had been synthesised, which was immune to certain viruses and these genes were being cloned, Dr.Rai further added.
