Conference on emerging issues of health care management at Surat

The need for hospitals and health care set ups to realize the importance of professional management in day to day functioning and the health care providers of Surat city should strive to provide better patient care, stressed S.K. Nanda, IAS, Health Secretary Government of Gujarat. He was speaking on the inaugural function of a conference on 'Emerging Issues In Health Care Management' organized by the joint efforts of Health Care Management Solutions and Shri Mahavir Heart Institute, Surat on April 27, 2003. Nanda emphasised that all the hospital has to focus on their core areas and then to brand their institution in the market accordingly. He said, that prevention of the disease is more important today than curative and hence no hospital in this era can survive without giving right importance to preventive and curative part of the health. According to Nanada diabetic, cardiac, trauma, and cancer are the modern days disease and therefore without giving proper care on such disease no hospital can do well. Dr. S.B. Saxena, Dean Surat Medical College was the Guest Of Honour. The conference provided a nice platform for public and private health care providers to interact with each other and discuss about the issues to be addressed by the health care industry. Various eminent speakers across the country covered a wide range of topics from Hospital Planning & Project Management, Role Of Third Party Administrators in Present Health Care Scenario, Equipment Planning &Preventive Maintenance & Quality In Health Practices. The highlight of the programme was the video conferencing on "Clinical Audit" delivered by Sheenu Jhawar from U.K.
