Par Pharmaceutical Inc, the principal subsidiary of Pharmaceutical Resources Inc, has commenced shipment in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico of substitutable generic paroxetine hydrochloride immediate release tablets supplied and licensed from GSK for a royalty paid to GSK.
Judge Richard Posner in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago) entered an order dismissing the litigation between GlaxoSmithKline and Pentech Pharmaceuticals Inc which cleared the way for this product launch pursuant to the terms of a settlement agreement with GSK which was previously announced on April 18, 2003.
As was previously announced, Par will also be entitled to distribute the same product in the U.S. market once another generic paroxetine hydrochloride immediate release tablet fully substitutable for Paxil becomes available there.
