Infertility, which has shown significant rise amongst men over the last few years, now has an effective remedy in Ayurveda. Recently, the Ayurvedic remedy has effectively shown results for all the causes of male functional infertility and the `effectiveness' of the Ayurvedic remedy is proved at the Pune based Dhanvantri Hospital and Research Centre (recognised by University of Pune) that has carried out extensive clinical trials for an Ayurvedic capsules `Addyzoa' manufactured by Charak Pharma. The company selected the centre for the clinical trials of their drug three years ago. Talking to Pharmabiz, Dr. M.B. Bhosale, Director of the centre said, "We have carried out clinical trials of the drug on more than eight thousand patients over the last three years. Every year more than 3000 candidates are registered at the centre for the trials, coming from all over Maharashtra." He further noted that the highest number of patients approaching the centre were from Mumbai followed by Kolhapur, Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad amongst others. The age group of the patients treated by the drug varied from 25 years to 60 years. "The results are wonderful which proves that Ayurveda has the best remedy for infertility, with no contra indications, as compared to any other modern medication," he reasoned. He further explained that with the Ayurvedic drug the sperm count went up significantly high in the span of just three to four months. "And other modern medication would consume around two years to show similar kind of results," he clarified. "The drug,'' he pointed out, "has shown satisfying results in the oligo, astheno and terato spermia defects, where in the sperm counts are from low to nil." Giving some instances out of his observation at the centre he said that in some cases the sperm count of eight million was raised up to 58 million and in some other cases the count went up to 105 million from 35 million. According to him presently the infertility rate has increased by 5-10% in the State, particularly amongst the middle class couples. The infertility rate amongst the male is reported to be around 35% while in women it is reported to be around 25%. `` In 5% of the cases it is seen that although both the couples have no defects yet they face infertility problem,'' he observed. Dr. Bhosale stressed that to get the best results through Ayurveda the infertility problem should be treated as per the fundamental principles of Ayurveda or sanhitas.
