The Gujarat State Board of Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA) is promoting a Pharmaceutical Techno Park at Changodar near Ahmedabad. The Techno Park, which is in a 300 lakh sq. meter area, can accommodate 40 formulation and pharma related units except bulk drugs with latest technology facilities. Each plot will be of 5000 sq yards. The IDMA GSB is currently negotiating with the private land-owners to acquire the required land at the industrial area of Changodar as the state government could not provide the land near the proposed Science City in Ahmedabad as it was decided earlier. However, IDMA GSB secretary, Dr. R S Joshi informed that on finalisation of the land, the work on survey and feasibility report has already been initiated and the moment it gets the possession of the land, the development and plotting work will be started. "We have already received bookings by 30 members from in and out of the state for the project," he informed. The total promotional and development cost of the techno park including the land is estimated to be Rs 4 crore. The project, which was conceptualized by IDMA GSB in the year 2000 as the SSI sector felt that it is very important to upgrade their facilities and to become complied with the Revised Schedule M to survive in the competitive era. A dream project of Deepakkumar Jayantilal Padia, the then chairman of IDMA state board, the Techno Park would have the best infrastructure, captive power plant, common testing laboratory and common effluent treatment plant. The technical consultant of the project is currently Dalal Mott MC Donald. Major companies which have already booked plots in the Techno Park includes Zydus Cadila, Osho Pharma, Five Star Pharma, West Coast Pharma, Ishita Pharma, Bilcare Industries- Pune, Sunij Pharma, Elite Pharma, Bonsai Pharma, Cambridge Pharma- Mehsana, Que Pharma, Irich Pharma, Medico Pharma.
