Wockhardt Hospital expands cardiac services with new generation technology

The cardiac care major, Wockhardt Hospital and Heart Institute has expanded its cardiac facilities with new generation technology which will help the patients get better modalities of heart treatment at the hospital. The expansion includes a new state of art Siemens Cardiac Cath Lab for performing Angiography and Angioplasty with advanced digital technology for in-depth diagnostic capability. "The advanced Cath Lab will enable our cardiologists to obtain higher resolution cardiac images with reduced X ray exposure which provides excellent patient benefits particularly in high duration Angioplasty procedures," said Vishal Bali, vice president, Wockhardt Hospital. The new cath lab also provides ACOM net system which will give physicians at remote Wockhardt network hospitals to see live heart images of their patients while they are undergoing procedure at Wockhardt Heart Institute. Besides the cath lab, Wockhardt has also acquired a suite of Philips Echocardiography color Doppler systems with 3D capability for more accurate diagnosis of patients with congenital, ischemic and rheumatic heart disease. This is amongst the select few installations in India, which has been recently launched across the globe. "Technology is playing a key role in the advancement of treatment for heart patients, new generation technology is enhancing our decision making process thereby increasing accuracy of patient treatment" said Dr Ranganath Nayak, chief cardiologist, Wockhardt Hospital. The Intensive Coronary Care Units (ICCU) have been equipped with new generation multi-parameter bedside monitors which also provide telemedicine capabilities for cardiologists and cardiac surgeons to monitor their patients from anywhere in the world " This technological advancement is making it possible to monitor our post operative heart surgery patients even from home" says Dr Vivek Jawali Chief Cardiovascular Surgeon Wockhardt Hospital. This expansion programme which has cost Wockhardt Hospital Rs 35 million will benefit more than 10000 heart patients annually. "We believe that patients in India should have best in heart treatment which is cost effective. This new technology acquisition is a part of that vision," said Bali.
