Ranbaxy inks marketing pact with Alltech, USA for veterinary drug

The animal health division of Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited (Ranbaxy) has signed a marketing agreement with Alltech Biotechnology (Alltech) for YeaSacc*1026 Bolus, a highly valued product in the dairy cattle segment. Ranbaxy, with its prominent position in the Indian animal health industry, expects potential demand for products such as YeaSacc which will improve the productivity of Indian dairy animals, stated a press release. Commenting on the agreement Chris King, General Manager, Alltech, India, said, "The product has a great fit for the Indian market" He added, "It boosts milk production by stimulating appetite, improving rumen function and results in increased milk yield and fat percentage. YeaSacc has demonstrated excellent results in numerous local and overseas trials, and the Indian market with its high roughage inclusion in the diet, is ideally suited to benefit from this product". "The alliance will leverage and integrate the competencies of the Ranbaxy and Alltech and we expect to gain a leadership position in the market relatively quickly," said Dr Sanjay Chibber, Business Head, Animal Health Division, Ranbaxy. He further added, "Ranbaxy has built up an excellent understanding and service organization for the domestic market and Alltech is the world's leading Biotechnology company in the animal feed industry. This association will further strengthen and benefit the two organizations". Ranbaxy and Alltech have plans for introducing more products in a phased manner. Alltech's global expertise, supported by Ranbaxy's leadership position in India, will benefit Indian customers immensely. India is the world's largest milk producer but the average Indian cattle farmer struggles with poor average milk yield and problems such as poor appetite and low fertility.
