IIPS to organize workshop on patents

Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal's Institute of Intellectual Property Studies (IIPS) is organizing a five-day workshop on Understanding Patents Basics between October 6 and 10, 2003 in its premises in Vile Parle (W), Mumbai. The workshop - part of the series of its Executive Development Programmers - shall be a participatory workshop suitable for executives whose scope of work calls for a broad working knowledge of patents, and for professionals who need to interact with scientists and R & D personnel, patent agents, patent attorneys, licensing and regulatory authorities etc. and for those dealing with transfer of technology, commercialization of patented inventions, asset valuation, licensing agreements etc. Apart from a theoretical overview of patent related issues wherein patent fundamentals, the role of patents in industry, the various dimensions of patents etc will be studied, there will be some degree of "hands-on" training as well, via assignments, on-line sessions etc. Technical sessions at the workshop shall cover Patent - Prior Art Search using web-based services and paid databases, drawing up of patent specifications, drafting of claims etc. Invited faculty members include Dr. Prabuddha Ganguli, IP expert, N.K.Garg, Patent Office, D.G.Shah, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, Usha Chandrashekhar, Patent Attorney, Dr. Pradeep Paranjpe, ex Patent Office, Dr. S.
