Ranbaxy arm ties up with US co to market lab products

Ranbaxy Fine Chemicals Ltd (RFCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd (RLL), has forged a marketing alliance with Mallinckrodt Baker Inc (MBI), US - to market the latter's scientific laboratory products in the Indian market. RFCL will market MBI JT Baker and Mallinckrodt's range of laboratory products in the Indian market and the alliance will leverage the technological and product development competencies of MBI and the marketing and distribution muscle of RFCL, a company communiqué issued here. Through this alliance, RFCL will be able to offer over 5,000 products of JT Baker and Mallinckrodt brand and the expected market potential is about Rs 50 crore, according to industry sources. According to Sushil Mehta, Director, RFCL, the alliance took the company closer to becoming a "total laboratory solutions provider" for research and analytical purposes. Mallinckrodt Baker Inc, formed after the union of JT Baker and Mallinckrodt Chemicals, has over 100 years of worldwide experience in high purity products for scientific applications. RFCL is one of the allied businesses of RLL and had clocked sales of Rs 32.9 crore for the year 2002.
