Air curtains market picks up among pharma sector in K'taka

The awareness about air curtains is catching up in India among the pharmaceutical sector, healthcare providers, research labs and diagnostic centres. There is huge potential for the air curtain market in the country. Currently, the air curtain market in Karnataka is pegged around Rs. 2 crore. The main players in the State are Mitsunara Air Systems, Almnord, Aircon and Cosyat. N Narasimhan, chief executive, Mitsunara Air Systems told Pharmabiz.com that the use of air curtain in India is on the rise and the with the concept of clean rooms its indispensability cannot be overlooked. Although there are only a handful of dedicated air curtain units in India, Mitsunara's air curtains sold under the brand name 'Laminair' is accepted for the parameters like air velocity, no vibration, low power consumption and rare breakdowns. The primary role of an air curtain is to create an invisible barrier across an opening to create an air seal to prevent airborne contaminants, insects, dust, dirt, cold air or warm air from entering the premises. The Bangalore-based Mitsunara has customers across the industry and particularly an increasing number health care providers- Bangalore's Air Force Command Hospital, Mallya Hospital, Bangalore, Prabha Eye Clinic, Chennai, Apollo Hospital, Chennai, several nursing homes, diagnostic centres research labs including the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Pune's Animal & Tissue Culture lab and pharma-biotech companies in the country.
