Technology, Innovation & IPR Week 2003 begins at Hyderabad

CII with the support of Govt. of AP, Technology Development Board (Dept. of Science & Technology) and Andhra Pradesh Technology Development & Promotion Centre has organized a 5-day conference on Innovation & IPR strategy at Hyderabad from October 13-17, 2003. A concurrent technology exhibition was also organised. Vidyasagar Rao, Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, K. Kasturirangan, MP, Rajya Sabha, Hari S Bhatia, Chairman, CII National Committee on Technology & Innovation, Y. Harish Chandra Prasad, MD, Lanco Kondapalli Power Pvt. Ltd., attended the inaugural programme. Vidyasagar Rao mentioned the need to reach technology to rural areas. Around Rs.120 crore is to be funded to develop and improve infrastructure facilities at patent offices in four metros of the country. The government is building integrated patent offices, and is focusing on extensive application of IT. IPR training institute has been set up at Nagpur. Hari S Bhatia said that unless we improve the ‘innovation capacity’ in the country, we will not be in a position to produce high quality products. When the world has recognized the scope of Contract Research in India, we should be able to use our strength. He also listed the developments in the country over the last decade and its impact on our economy. CII – Technology, Innovation & IPR Week is perceived as an important part of CII and national agenda to network the expertise and promote these as an integral part of overall Corporate Strategy. The program is aimed at exchange of ideas and strengthening the trends of ‘Technology Society’ development on global, regional and local scales. Participation of over 500 experts from all over the world. The summit is to provide a platform to discuss the latest technological trends in identified sectors, provide a forum to discuss technology tie-ups, JV's, trans-boundary contract research and key policy issues, provide a forum for matchmaking between technology providers and technology seekers, seek a sustainable technology program for the nation.
