Ranjit Shahani re-elected as OPPI president

Ranjit Shahani, vice-chairman & managing director, Novartis India has been re-elected as the president of Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) with effect from September 27, 2003. The OPPI, established in 1965, is a premier organisation of pharmaceutical manufacturers in India. It represents primarily research-based companies in India. Shahani is a graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and an MBA from Bombay University. Before joining Novartis, he was CEO at Roche Products Ltd. Prior to this, he worked with ICI/Zeneca, UK, overseeing their Asia pacific and Latin American operations. He represents India on the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations (IFPMA), Geneva. Ajit Singh, MD, Associated Capsules Pvt Ltd, Ranga Iyer, MD, Wyeth Ltd, Rajiv Gulati, CMD, Eli Lilly & Co, K.D. Shah, President & MD, Fulford (India) Ltd have been elected vice presidents of OPPI.
