C U Shah College of Pharmacy organizes seminar on emerging trends in QA

AICTE sponsored Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIP Cell) of C U Shah College of Pharmacy, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai organized a one day seminar on “ Emerging Trends in Quality Assurance” at their Juhu Campus in Mumbai. It has recently being awarded ‘A’ grade of excellence by AICTE for its activities. Prof Rupa Shah, chancellor of SNDT Women’s University, inaugurated and presided over the seminar. At the outset of the seminar, Principal Dr S Y Gabhe welcomed the guests and the participants. Dr (Mrs) K K Singh, Chief Coordinator, IIP Cell introduced the IIP Cell and its objectives to the audience stressing the need for interaction between the industry and institute for collaborating on various fronts and activities which are mutually beneficial. The seminar was divided into three sessions. The morning session began by a talk on ‘Schedule M-Sterile Product Manufacturing’ by Mr R Raghunanadan, Vice President Quality (South Asia), GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Dr A V Prabhu, Senior Vice President (Technical) of Kopran Ltd gave an overview of ‘ Sampling and Documentation’. The afternoon session started with a speech on ‘Revised Schedule M Requirements’ by Mr K Bhargava, Drugs Inspector, CDSCO (West Zone). Dr V G Nayak, Executive Vice President, Lupin Limited gave an interesting presentation on ‘Validation aspects as per the New Schedule M’. In the evening session Dr V B Malkar, General Manager, Corporate Quality Assurance, Wockardt Ltd., talked about ‘Enivronmental Requirements in Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing’. The seminar ended with the vote of thanks by Dr Amrita Bajaj, Co-ordinator, IIP Cell. The seminar was well attended by 125 delegates from the industry and academia.
