Dabur launches new herbal product for diabetes care

Dabur launched its new herbal product for diabetes mellitus, Glucorid-KP. The capsules contain bitter gourd freeze-dried powder and other components. The product launched from Hyderabad across the country, aims to correct the carbohydrate and lipid metabolic disorders. Glucorid KP is expected to regulate the sugar metabolism, protect the body against free radical damage, delay or arrest various problems of disturbed sugar metabolism. The fruit juice of bitter- gourd increases the glucose uptake by peripheral tissues and raises the muscle glycogen synthesis. The product is to help in better regulation of blood sugar levels like lowering the fasting blood glucose and glycosylated haemoglobin levels. It is priced at Rs.30 for 10 capsules. In India, nearly 32 million people are affected by the disease and this figure may touch 57 million by 2025. Dabur has traditionally specialised in nature-based products and Ayurvedic formulations. Over the years it developed two distinct businesses - FMCG and Pharmaceuticals. The company's FMCG business comprises of 3 sections - Personal Care, Health Care and Foods. Ayurvedic Specialities deals in pure Ayurvedic medicines while the Pharmaceuticals division offers branded pharmaceuticals, oncology and bulk pharma exports. During 2002-2003, Dabur rose to the 4th largest FMCG Company in India with a sales turnover of Rs.1232 crore.
