Om Soni, chairman of Sonix Medical Resources, USA said, "The administrative functions account for $11 billion of the $1.5 trillion US healthcare industry. The increasing complexity of healthcare regulations and declining reimbursements has put cost pressure on healthcare providers and payers. This has led them to increasingly outsource administrative services". Dr Ramdas Pai, chairman, Manipal Enterprises, said, "We are glad to be associated with Sonix. Manipal has 50 years of experience in Indian healthcare industry and Sonix has over 17 years of success in delivering outpatient diagnostic and treatment services in the US. We will bring in expertise to build a world-class organisation to be part of the productivity initiative in global healthcare services market. DA Prasanna, CEO, Manipal Enterprises, said, "Omega will be capitalised at $2 million with 51 per cent held by Sonix and balance by Manipal. The Indian delivery arm, Manipal Omega, is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Omega, USA. Partnering with an established player like Sonix helps to acquire both competencies and US customers. We are happy that Manipal Omega has two large orders, giving the company a head start." Present on the occasion was Dr Douglas Cassel, chairman, Healthcare Management Partners, USA. He said, "Our clients consider us to be the best in the industry. We would like to work with global organisations, with sound domain knowledge and relevant experience. In our opinion, Omega best fits these criteria. In reviewing their operation, they give us the confidence to establish a mutually beneficial relationship." Manipal is South Asia’s leading education and healthcare provider. Manipal educates 90,000 students and its health system treats 1.2 million patients a year.
