AP Govt signs MoU with Malaysia for joint initiatives in biotech

Delegations from Genome Valley of AP and Bio Valley of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia have signed a MoU for transfer of technology, exchange of information and know-how of R&D, and joint initiatives in the field of antibiotics and fermentation, recently at Hyderabad Another MoU has been signed between the University of Hyderabad and the University of Selangor, Malaysia and both the partners have agreed to support each other in the areas of academics, life sciences, animal and plant biotechnology in addition to training and teaching in selected areas. The All India Biotech Association, (South India Chapter, Hyderabad) and Selangor state Biotech and Biodiversity Council, Malaysia have also signed a MoU which agreed to exchange information on trends, investment and related activities of biotechnology and support in conducting international level exhibitions, seminars, workshops with an objective to strengthen scientific and industrial co-operation. Indian delegation consisted of B Gopala Krishna Reddy (Minister for Small Scale Industries and Biotechnolgy, Govt. of AP), BP Acharya (secretary, Industries and Commerce, Govt. of AP), DN Mohan (additional secretary, Industries and Commerce, and director of Biotechnology, Govt. of AP), Dr BS Bajaj, (chairman, AIBA South India Chapter, Hyderabad), Prof P Reddanna, (vice-chairman AIBA South India Chapter). Malaysian delegation was lead by Prof Abdul Latif Ibrahim, biotech advisor to Selangor state, secretary of Biotech and Biodiversity Council and director of Biotech-IT Centre Selangor, Bio Valley. Dr Robert Jay Clemens, director, Growth Initiatives and Dr Harish Dave, Head, Growth in the Indian Subcontinent, both from East Chemical Company, USA also attended the occasion.
