The Kerala Drugs Controller has directed a few manufacturers to withdraw certain batches of Paracetamol IP tablets, disposable syringes, B-Complex Forte and a few other drugs from the Kerala market. The order is subsequent to finding substandard quality of samples of batches.
The drug inspectors took the samples from different parts of the state during October, November and December, and the ban was enforced after tests were carried out at the state drug control laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram.
One batch each of Paracetamol IP tablets manufactured by Pure Pharma Ltd., Industrial Estate, Indore and Delhi based Unicare India (P) Ltd., disposable syringes manufactured by Palakkad based Hand Syringes (one batch) and SIDCO Medical Devices, Chennai (three batches), batches SC 3 to 001 of B Complex Forte with Vitamin C manufactured by Sunny Drugs Pharmaceuticals, Silvassa, and Parasip (batch DA 3172) of Cilpla Ltd., Daman figure among the list of drug batches banned by the Kerala Drugs Controller.
As per the December tests, the DC also banned one batch of Omeprozole capsule of Sanches healthcare, Coimbatore, one batch of Betamethason tablets manufactured by Lincon Pharmaceuticals, few batches of Pyrex-paracetamol from Anrose Pharma, Hyderabad and Ascorbic acid tablets from Modern Laboratories, Mumbai.
According to TP Gopinathan, drugs controller, Kerala, concerned drug enforcement authorities in respective states have been informed of the matter and the companies have been asked to withdraw the batches from the market. The tests were as part of the routine sample tests, elaborated the DC.
