Kerala DC bans batches of substandard drugs and surgical items

The drugs control department of Kerala government has banned selling of a few batches of some drugs and surgical items found to be of substandard quality, following sample tests conducted last month. The ban was enforced following routine sample tests of the products seized from various medical stores in the state. This includes a few batches of Paracetamol, Cloxacilllin, Amoxyillin, vitamin capsules, bandage items etc. made by various manufacturers in different parts of the country. The list of drugs, batches and manufacturer are as follows: Empee Gel (2457, Murugan Pharma, Punalur), Absorbant cotton IP (019, Modern Surgicals Pvt.Ltd, Kurali, Ropar), Ascorbic acid (215, Modern Laboratories, Indore), Cefotaxim for Injection USP (Cefotex, KCF 203, Modern Laboratories, Mumbai, Bandage cloth for PoP Schedule F (2) – 69, Vinayagar Surgicals, Samusigapuram,), Bandage cloth (21, Sri Sanjeevani Nachier Surgicals, Tamil Nadu and batch 448 of Sree Balakrishna Surgicals, Tamil Nadu), Paracetamol Syrup (L 698, Bafna Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Chennai), Roller bandage (111, Sree Ramasubramania Textiles, Chathrapathi), Vitamin A & D capsules IP, (YOU 2005, Strides Arcolab Ltd., Bangalore), Amoxycillin capsules (KAM 07, Modern Laboratories, Mumbai), Deca Samethazon tablets IP (4376, Modern Pharmaceutical Industries, Kerala), Cloxacillin Sodium Capsules IP (CXC 0211, Nester Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Goa), Di Ethyl Carbomicine Tablets IP (10006, Pure Pharma Ltd., Indore), Trimethoprime & Sulphamethoxasol oral suspension IP (03336, Bright Drug Industries Ltd., Indore), Compound Sodium Lactate Injection IP (13P 1348, Kokkatt Pharmaceuticals Laboratories Ltd., Kottayam), Dexa Methazone tablets IP (4376, Modern Surgicals Pvt.
