Hyderabad-based Family Health Plan (FHPL) has been nominated as the Third Party Administrator (TPA) for the National Insurance Company (NIC) for serving health insurance products such as mediclaim policy in Andhra Pradesh. NIC has also roped in e-Seva (Hyderabad) to maximize the reach of its insurance policies in Andhra Pradesh. According to FHPL sources, the NIC's mediclaim policy extends several advantages over standard mediclaim such as- premedical examination is not required for obtaining the policy and single premium across all age groups unlike the standard mediclaim where the premium payable varies according to the age group. It also offers provision for floater facility in case of families, maternity covered with nine months waiting period on the first year policy and no waiting period for renewals required whereas a standard mediclaim policy doesn't covers maternity. Sangita Reddy, director, NIC, said that the decision to offer health insurance products with the help of e-Seva and making FHPL as a TPA has been a good development, since e-Seva has more than 150 centres in the state and FHPL has a good network with hospitals. FHPL, an Apollo group company, serves over 4.5 million people with a network of 1700 providers across the country, which offers cashless facility for patients holding health insurance policies. As a TPA, the company has been serving the products of both public and private sector insurance companies.
