Waters India opens application laboratory facility

Waters (India) Private Limited has opened its application laboratory facility to the pharma and biotech industry in the country. The main objective of opening the application laboratory for customers is that they could save on time and costs to conduct experiments without having to invest on the equipment by using the full-fledged state-of-the-art facility at Waters, Dr Ranjit Gulge, head, applications laboratory division, Waters (India) Private Limited, said. The company envisages the prospect of striking joint ventures with the potential customers where it would provide assistance in analysis and method development in areas like chromatography, thermal analysis and polymers for the various laboratory experiments which are carried out by chromatographers and chemists to screen raw materials and conduct related final product analysis. For teaming up with the pharma-biotech sector, Waters India has invested Rs.2.5 crore to purchase equipment like HPLC, mass spectrometry, thermal analysis and a host of others from its parent company Waters Corporation, company officials revealed. Another area of focus by the company is rheology, which deals with checking flow of materials and non characterizing materials like for instance polymers of different kinds used in pharma and aerospace applications.
