Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, chairman and managing director Biocon Ltd and head of the Vision Group on Biotechnology, government of Karnataka won the Whirlpool GR8 Women Award for the science and technology category here recently.
She was chosen for the first-ever Whirlpool GR8 Women Award for her efforts in biotechnology sector.
Shaw has received several awards including Rotary Award for Best Model Employer, National Award for Best Small Industry and the Padmashri in 1989 from the Government of India.
