IPA – TN branch organizes biotech event

The Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) organized a special session in Chennai recently on the subject ‘emerging trends in biotechnology in pharma industry’. Dr. S.Suresh Babu, group leader, R&D with Malladi Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Chennai gave the expert presentation. The expert elaborated in detail on subjects related to the use of bio-informatics to find drug targets, characteristics of the drug molecule, patenting the discovery and pre-clinical studies while deliberating on biotech drug discovery development process. He also explained about bio pharmaceutical manufacturing, bio pharmaceutical products and the future of bio pharmaceuticals. With the development of novel drugs, vaccines and therapies involving biological systems, the bio pharmaceutical industry is in an era of new frontier exploitation, said the expert. K. Mohan, vice president of IPA Tamil Nadu branch presided over the function, attended by numerous IPA members of the region. D.Srinivasa Rao, Treasurer, IPA, Tamil Nadu introduced the guests to the speaker, and vote of thanks was proposed by S.Lakshminarayanan, secretary of IPA, Tamil Nadu branch.
